Virgie Tovar is the editor of the upcoming fat positive anthology Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion (Seal Press, November 2012). She is a fat activist, sexologist and coach. She holds a Master's degree in Human Sexuality with a focus on women and body image. Her research quickly earned her international recognition as one of the only Fat Studies scholars researching the intersections of fatness, gender and race. After teaching about body image and women's sexuality at the University of California at Berkeley, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 2005, she went onto host "The Virgie Show" (CBS Radio) in San Francisco. She is certified as a sex educator and was voted Best Sex Writer by the Bay Area Guardian in 2008 for her first book, Destination DD: Adventures of a Breast Fetishist with 40DDs. When she’s not teaching workshops, she is creating content for her video blog, "Virgie Tovar’s Guide to Fat Girl Living." Virgie has been featured on Playboy Radio and Women’s Entertainment Television.
